About LawScout
LawScout combines a South African legal directory, legal-career listings and practical consumer information in one public platform.
Finding a legal professional often starts with scattered search results, unfamiliar terminology and little context for comparing one option with another. LawScout organises available profile information by location and practice area so users can build a shortlist and ask better questions.
LawScout is a directory and information service. We are not a law firm, do not decide which practitioner a person should appoint and do not promise that a listing, review, rank or badge predicts the outcome of a matter.
The platform also supports legal-career discovery and public educational content. Each surface has different limitations, so we provide source, correction and disclaimer information rather than relying on broad trust claims.
These standards guide how we describe listings and create public resources.

Explain when directory information comes from public sources or profile-owner submissions and acknowledge that records can become outdated.
Give listed professionals and users a visible process for reporting inaccurate, incomplete or unwanted directory information.
Publish plain-language consumer material with update dates, useful sources and a clear boundary between information and legal advice.
A directory profile may be supplied by a practitioner or firm, or compiled from public professional and business sources. Unclaimed profiles may therefore contain fewer details and may not reflect a recent change.
Verification indicators are displayed only for profiles with the corresponding recorded status. They describe a point-in-time check and are not an endorsement. Users should confirm current professional standing through the Legal Practice Council when it matters to their decision.
If a listing is inaccurate, the profile URL and supporting information can be sent to legal@lawscout.co.za. Our policy explains how corrections, removals, editorial updates and commercial placement are handled.
