How information reaches LawScout, what our labels mean and how to ask for a correction.

LawScout is a discovery platform for legal-service profiles, legal jobs, public questions and educational material. This policy applies to those public surfaces. It explains our intended standards; it does not turn LawScout into a regulator or a provider of legal advice.
Users should independently confirm information that matters to an instruction, application or deadline. A profile's presence, order, rating or badge does not mean LawScout recommends that person or guarantees an outcome.
A profile may contain information submitted by a practitioner or firm, or compiled from public professional and business sources such as Legal Practice Council records and law-firm websites. Source type and completeness can differ between profiles.
A badge is shown only when the recorded checks for that profile have been completed. It is a point-in-time directory signal, not an endorsement, quality score or guarantee of current professional standing.
Guides are written for a South African audience, use primary or official sources where practical, display an update date and distinguish general information from advice about an individual matter.
Featured, sponsored or premium placement is labelled where it appears. Payment may affect visibility but must not create a verification badge or determine the conclusions of editorial content.
Public-source profiles can help people discover practitioners who do not yet manage a LawScout account, but those profiles may be incomplete or out of date. Claimed profiles can contain additional information supplied by the profile owner. Claiming a profile does not by itself prove every field or create a verification badge.
Where a profile displays a verification status, the status relates only to the checks recorded by LawScout, such as matching identity and professional details against the sources available at that time. Users should use the Legal Practice Council's official channels when they need current regulatory confirmation.
Reviews, answers and other user submissions express the contributor's view. We may moderate content for relevance, privacy, abuse, spam or apparent conflicts, but moderation does not make LawScout the author of the submission or establish that every factual statement is true.
Search and browse order can use relevance, location, profile completeness, availability, user-selected filters and commercial placement. A paid position must be presented as featured, sponsored or premium where that distinction is material to the user.
Advertisers and listed professionals do not receive a right to approve independent consumer guides. Advertising relationships do not change our correction process or the meaning of a verification status.
To correct or remove a directory listing, email legal@lawscout.co.za with the profile URL, the field at issue and a reliable source for the requested change. For an editorial correction, include the article URL and the specific passage. We may ask for identity or authority evidence before changing non-public or ownership data.
